Pear

A friend picked some gigantic pears and gave me two of them. When I say gigantic I mean, I’ve never in my life seen pears this large. Imagine the biggest mango you’ve seen. Now in its place put a pear. They’re big. So as I was sitting at my computer (which sits on the kitchen…

First Home

A friend and my kid’s nanny, Camille, told me how she’d taken pictures of her grandparents home before it passed out of their hands. I thought that was a very good idea so today I straightened our house and took photos. Although we’re not selling this house it’ll never look like this again. More to…

Tuxedo

I tried motion sketching Tuxedo. I love that he’s out roaming the house because for too long he’s holed up in the room because of the dog. We’ve worked on getting him out more and he was prowling lounging sniffing the table in front of me while I tried to sketch him. Cats are wicked…

Beads

Tonight I was inspired to do something a little different with my hands. I bought these combs awhile back and haven’t done anything with them. I tried adding some beads in a color Isabella likes cuz she’s a great person to give things to…she loves it when I make her things. I’ll have to see…

Ferris Wheel

I had the opportunity to take a photography workshop this evening. I learned some new things about my camera which make me excited to get out and practice. Tonight I’m too tired to post many of the photos or what I learned but I will post this shot of the Ferris wheel I took down…

Flowers

Fridays are great for capturing flowers. I take the kids to Kung Fu and if the weather is nice their class is at Volunteer Park on Capital Hill. There are blooms everywhere and I have an hour with which to entertain myself so I bring my camera and have fun. Today I took over 150…

Textures

I pulled out my Canon Rebel and went about capturing different textures. Once I started it was hard to put the camera down. You can guess which belongs to the following in the collage: Isabella’s cat, a lime, Quinton’s smashed jawbreaker, an African basket, my bathroom window, patio table, peach and pet gate.

Tube Zentangle

In my continued effort to find a way to reuse these little tubes I decided to use a Sharpie to draw some Zentangles. This plastic doesn’t like many materials. I’ve tried gluing something but it won’t stick, I’ve tried gesso, adhesive papers – I haven’t had much luck. We’ll see how this goes.
